NUCLEAR POWER

We have developed an efficient solution for the temporary wet storage of used fuel. It includes so-called dense storage racks, in which wet storage space can be used 2–3 times more efficiently.

Powder metallurgically manufactured steel plates that contain boron are at the core of the solution. They are located between the used fuel elements. The plates that contain boron absorb neutron radiation efficiently, which enables for a shorter distance between the fuel elements that contain uranium.

Dense storage racks are a cost-efficient alternative to building new storage capacity in nuclear power plants.
